Cape Cod Times Apartment Conversion
Due to changing needs, the Cape Cod Times found that they had far too much space. Their facility, which was originally constructed in 1938 on Main Street when they were the Cape Cod Standard Times, had gained multiple additions and renovations over the years, turning this into a large, complex, 38,000 SF building. The Cape Cod Times retained about twenty percent of the space, and twenty-two apartment units were carefully and sensitively laid out within the constraints of the existing building, utilizing and capitalizing on many of the industrial and historic features of the building. Due to the complexity of the building, no two units are alike. Much of the industrial character of the building interior was retained, with exposed masonry, structure and high beamed ceilings, and some of the newspaper making machinery accoutrements were incorporated into the final design.
